A Presidential Day: Introduction

Today is Sunday.  In my local community, where Sundays usually entail the "rolling up of the sidewalks" from the previous Saturday night, and no business opens its doors (outside of the restaurants and Walmart) until the following Monday morning, it stands as a pleasant opportunity when one set of doors do open for individuals seeking a measure of solace.

Naturally, I speak of the coffeehouse.  It has been, for generations of years, the bastion of conversation and thought to the masses seeking a means by which to spend their time beyond the superficial entertainments of the masses.  Escapism is good.  Levity relieves the heart of its burdens. Yet, at some point, attention to detail must resurface and problems must be addressed.  Life cannot be lived in the utopian bubble of empty frivolity forever.

Hence, the coffeehouse - for those who derive their entertainment in reams of stimulating, provocative thought.

My exploration for this day, seated at a table facing main street, during the few hours availed me while the doors remain open, is a perusal of the presidents; not all forty-four presidents who have occupied the seat of power since our nation's founding, but rather the three with whom my life has intersected as of these recent days.  Thus, I am hoping to write separate entries, detailing my experiences involving all three.  Whether the time will be there to complete all three this day, or even the first today, I do not know, as writing is not a science where one merely regurgitates a litany of words already espoused.  Writing is an act of creation, an attempt to communicate a thought or an idea, an experience or a story, to benefit others with what one has learned and seen.  Hopefully, I can manage some semblance of that here.
